Senior Portraits by the River

When I got up last Sunday morning, I looked outside to check the weather. Rain. Where did that come from? That wasn’t in the forecast. I had a senior portrait session scheduled with Maggie at 8:30. Delaying the shoot wasn’t an option because I had a wedding in Lincoln that I needed to be at by 1:30.

Luckily, it was just a short, light rain that quickly cleared up. By the time I met Maggie, her mom and boyfriend at the Conservation Center in Concord, the sun was shining brightly. A few passing clouds softened the light at times (sometimes when I needed it and sometimes when I didn’t). The only real down side to the morning was a breeze a little more brisk than I would have preferred.

Maggie has model features and looks terrific and a variety of expressions, from broad smile to serious. That’s not something everyone can pull off. Like most people, she was a little self conscious at first. It didn’t take long, though, for her to anticipate some of my directions. Maggie was a pleasure to work with – and I always enjoy shooting at the Conservation Center.
