The Party before the Pomp & Circumstance

High school — a time when you build lasting friendships, lay the foundation for your future, and create memories you’ll cherish for the rest of your life. When graduation finally arrives, you look back on all the work, the stress, the fun, and the triumphs and look forward in anticipation of what comes next. At this time of transition . . . you celebrate!

I recently had the pleasure of capturing the graduation euphoria at a party for five St. Paul’s graduates at the Centennial Inn in Concord, NH. Friends and family from across the country gathered to commemorate the success of these young women. Despite not knowing anyone at such occasions, I do get caught up in the emotion and excitement, and my hope is that this always translates to the photographs.

Some people shy away from the camera or retreat to a corner in turtle-like fashion when the photographer arrives. This group, however, was eager to help capture memories for the grads. They brought props, and we set up an impromptu photo booth to bring out everyone’s playful side.  This added to the warmth and laughter that filled the room throughout the evening and helped create keepsake images for everyone’s desk, wall, or Facebook page.

Proud parents offered toasts, words of wisdom, and hugs.  I extend heartfelt congratulations for their achievements (to both the girls and their parents) and wish them all the best in the years to come.
