Ahhh, summer in New Hampshire! Maureen, her two children, and their families planned a trip from their homes in Georgia to visit Maureen’s sister who lives on Lake Winnisquam. Maureen wanted to capture this moment in everyone’s lives – especially with pre-teens and two-year-old twins – a perfect opportunity for a portrait session.
We met at Tilton Island Park on a glorious summer morning. I’ve come to enjoy shooting at the park. It’s a perfect place, actually. Trees, the river, grassy areas, and a gazebo offer a variety of backdrops, despite being a relatively small area. This let me create different looks for the various family groupings. Even for a mid-morning session like this, when the overhead sun often makes photography more of a challenge, the large, grand trees kept the lighting soft.
I enjoy working with kids, and Maureen’s grandchildren were no different. The older ones happily followed my directions and did a terrific job, but sometimes two year olds need cajoling and a bit more energy. Luckily, I like having fun and being a bit goofy!
We all enjoyed the morning in the park, and I’m glad to be able to provide them with images that will help them hold on to the memories of this summer.
