You can’t help but smile when you see Hannah. She’s spunky with an easy giggle and exudes first-grader cuteness.
Some of my favorite portrait sessions are with kids. I get to be silly with them, but they also challenge my imagination and creativity. Their high energy and constant wiggles also help hone my skills as a photographer. By now, though, Hannah is a pro at photo shoots. This is her third year posing for portraits to share with family and friends in time for the holidays.
Some kids fidget, get bored, and lose interest. Not Hannah! For this year’s outdoor shoot, the wind picked up, and the crisp air that reminds you summer is over, ripped right through us. It didn’t affect Hannah’s smile or stamina, and she didn’t complain when we hiked Cascades Trail in Franconia Notch State Park to find the best spots for Autumn portraits in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Even when her foot went through an unsuspecting pile of leaves that turned out to be a façade for an ankle-deep puddle, she willingly kept going.
Hannah’s mom, Rachael, joined the fun, for mother-daughter pics as a special surprise gift for dad, Nate. Shhh! Don’t tell.
Working with families from year-to-year, watching kids grow and getting to know their unique personalities is one of the joys of taking family portraits. This photographer-customer relationship helps people relax and allows me to bring out the best in each person. Thank you, Hannah and Rachael!
