A Gift for Mom: Brother & Sister Portraits

By January 19, 2015 Family, Portraits

A friend of mine, Brittany, asked if I would shoot some portraits of her friend’s son and daughter. The son is in the Army and is shipping out for the Middle East the beginning of February. Brittany thought portraits would be a nice gift to her friend. The trick was pulling it off while keeping it a surprise.

I met Kevin and Sarah at Brittany’s place for the photos. We had a limited space to work within, but I enjoy the challenge of creating terrific images in any situation. I like to capture a variety of looks and feels to give clients choices and images they can use in different ways. For this shoot, we did a few of Kevin and Sarah individually and together. I also wanted to get some a bit more “traditional” so their mom would have a nice print for her wall as well as some more playful ones to make her smile.

I tweaked one of Kevin’s photos to give it a more edgy, tougher military look. In the images below, I also included the lightly adjusted version for comparison.
