Dancing, Eating, & Cruising (and Photography) on NH’s Big Lake

Every summer, the fun folks at Let’s Dance Studio in Concord enjoy a sunset dinner & dance cruise on the M/S Mount Washington that sails around New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee. That, friends, is a key ingredient for a terrific NH summer! The weather also blessed us with a pleasant evening – the perfect temperature and humidity and just a gentle breeze.

As the ship leaves the Weirs and sails out for a couple of delightful hours cruising around the lake, they serve a buffet to get everyone’s bellies full. Because, you know, everyone dances better on a full stomach. Or the dancing burns off the calories from the meal. Something like that, anyway.

The ship boasts three dance floors with musicians at each one playing different types of music. Although, they aren’t big for your typical ballroom dancing, we always manage to find enough space to get our groove on (yes, ballroom dancers know how to groove).

Of course, the difficulty for me is being divided between the pull to spend the time taking beautiful photos of the lake under the setting sun and dancing. Don’t worry, though, the eating always comes first. When the sun finally heads home dragging the light with it, it’s all about the dance floor the rest of the cruise.
