Colorful umbrellas in downtown Concord, NH

The Arts in Concord

Despite its size, Concord increasingly has a vibrant downtown. A sunny Saturday in May is the perfect time to soak up some of the all-American hometown feeling. Shops, cafes, and the farmer’s market invite you to stroll down the newly-renovated Main Street.

Adding to the visual interest right now are some displays put up during last weekend’s Arts Fest. Many street corners have sculptures made with bicycles or bike parts. The brightly colored umbrellas hanging above Capital Plaza are really what drew my camera, though. With a clear blue sky as a backdrop and the sun making the umbrellas glow, there were just so many ways to explore the photographic possibilities. Of course, with them being umbrellas, I need to go back on a rainy day to get a different mood.
