Making Faces – fun portraits

By July 25, 2014Fun, Portraits

While out taking portraits of a couple in downtown Concord, we decided to get some fun photos. I’m happy with what we got. These images still crack me up when I look at them.

To get the effect, I used a wide angle lens on its widest setting and got the lens as close as I could. This creates what’s called lens expansion – there’s a big difference in apparent size of objects the farther they get from the lens. While this can make fun images, you have to be careful to not let this happen when taking regular portraits. You don’t want to unintentionally make heads, feet, arms, etc seem disproportionately larger than other body parts when you’re trying to get nice portraits.
