The Midsummer Night Magic event in Concord, NH provided an exciting variety of entertainment. One thing guaranteed to draw a crowd is the beautiful belly dancers from Tribal Zoe moving to exotic music. They performed several dances in front of the state capitol building – some with a larger group and some with just two dancers. Erika, the instructor, always does a terrific job teaching the ladies and putting together amazing routines.
I enjoyed photographing them during this event because the lighting was great. It was early evening on a sunny day and the light reflected off the Clock Tower on Main Street adding some nice, softer light counter to the sun. This made more dramatic lighting and helped to separate the dancers from the background when photographing from some angles.
Afterwards, they were gathered around talking by the entrance to Eagle Square. I really liked the light falling on them in contrast to the shadow of the building in the background. The final shot we did in the style of the Beatles’ Abby Road album cover.
